Great Christmas Adventure

I simply wish to express my gratitude for the miracle of simply being alive. This holiday season and gift and when we appreciate the gifts we cannot help being filled with Joy.This Christmas Eve I got to participate in a Toy Run for Children's Hospital which usually generates enough toys for the hospital to have enough to donate to the children for the entire year. Being able to give of ourselves and our abundance is a blessing beyond words. I am the Guy on the Street and yet I don't have to live like that any more. I get to wake up with the roof over my head and a bed to sleep in. This is truly a blessing because I know what it's like to sleep in a bush and freeze my ass off. Thank you God for the gift of being able to spend Holidays with good friends and family.

Belonging

it seems to me that everyone has a yearning to belong to someone or something. We go to great lengths to not feel that we are alienated or that we are alone. Unfortunately, one of mankind's greatest ills is that we often feel alone in a crowd. A great many of us feel that we are not deserving of loving relationships and often seek love in the wrong places.it is sad state of affairs when we feel that we need to donate cash to someone that holds a sign that says, "help me because I can't help myself." If I give away a couple of dollars it will help me to feel like I am a better human being especially during the Christmas season.
Don't get me wrong, I am all for giving for the sake of giving simply because there are lots of folks that just don't get that we are all in this thing together. this thing called life and it is good or as bad as we make our mindset to be. I love to teach and one of the things I teach is that no matter where we're starting out from we can reach for the stars. If we're starting out from way far down than the only way to go is up. I think it's kinda corny that we have to wait for Christmas to be in the spirit of giving. It's a sad state of affairs.
I just want you know that we can make a difference, that we can change the world if only one person at a time. Each time we offer a silent blessing to anther human being we are changing the world for the better. We help that person to know that they are not alone..

The Guy on the Street

I truely am the guy on the street. Dont get me wrong I own my own home. I work with the homeless. Those people that you see on the street holding the sign saying "Help me, cause I cant help myself."
Its probably not a good idea to give those folks money. Let me explain. Where I live, the homeless are not going hungry. Trust me they have numerous places they can go to eat, and people, like myself, that can give them access to shelter, clothing and mental health needs and substance abuse treatment.
I understand that giving them a dollar or two fills the need for compationate service but that money would be better spent donating it to one of the charitable organizations that serve this population.
Unfortuntatly a goodly number of these people are mentally ill and that is why they are on the street. They cant speak up for themselves, so they need people such as myself. I reach out to those that can not help themselves. When I engage people that dont trust anyone, I encounter the difficult task of creating a bond with people that live in fear, and dont trust that we will not hurt them.
If you are one of those good hearted souls, stay tuned for some education on how to make a postive difference. We all have the need for compationate service.
In loving service,
Jeff
